Where has the time gone?

Where has the time gone?

I am so sorry I have been behind on the blog! I have a lot of pictures posted this time to make up for lost time! We have been busy in the room!

Marble Painting

We took shaving cream and spread it on the pan. We then took water color paint and put drops on the shaving cream and swirled the paint around. After that we placed a piece of paper over the shaving cream and pressed down genitally. When we pulled off the paper and removed the shaving cream there was nice marble effect of the paper!

This project was a lot of fun and I think the kids really enjoyed it as well!

Ice Painting

This project was very simple to set up. We took an ice cube tray and filled it with paint. Some cubes were just a solid color (red, blue, yellow, orange, green) and some we filled half with one color and half with another (red/blue, red/yellow, yellow/blue). We placed Popsicle sticks inside the paint and we placed the ice cube tray in the freezer over night. The next day we pulled out the tray and the paint froze! We got some paper and went right to work! Some of our friends thought the paint was a real Popsicle and just wanted to eat it.

Color Mixing
We placed 3 colors in a plastic bag (red, yellow, and blue) and taped it shut. We took white paper and placed white paper on the table and taped the bag over the white paper to the table. We then let the children play with the paint. At first they were kind of shy but they soon came out of that and had an amazing time!

Water Beads

They loved the water beads! I ordered the water beads off Amazon. When they cam in We had to soak them in water so they could expand. We let he beads sit over nigh in the water (Watching them expand during the day was really cool!) We did not want water beads to be all over the room and we really did not want the kids to place them in their mouth, so we found a XL Ziploc bag. We had to tape the bag shut so the beads would not come out. We then placed the bag of beads in the sensory bin so all of the friends could get a chance to play. We will be doing something with the beads again!

Valentines Day boxes
With Valentines day around the corner we though our friends would need something to place all of their Valentines in (and boy were we right!) We gave out friends crayons and stickers and let them decorate the boxes.

The Mitten

My friends love this book! Ms. Christa made the animals out of felt so we could "watch" the animals go inside the mitten.

The Mitten Sensory Bin

We wanted to play with snow but there was no real snow, so we made some. We took shaving cream and baking soda and mied it together. We could compact it like snow or not. Ms. Christa also made the animals out of felt and had a pair of mittens. This project is kind of mess so if you wanted to do it at home be careful...

After the sensory play we needed to clean up the mat. Our friends were so excited to help with this! They also did such a great job!

Creating our own Mitten

We printed off pictures of the Mitten and of the animals. We let the kids color their mitten and the animals how ever they wanted to. In the book Nicki wanted white mittens but our friends love colors!

"Sewing" our mitten together

Here our friends were give some yarn and they "sewed" their mitten together. This is great for their fine motor skills!
We will be doing this again son as well!
